Gauverband Announcement

Fifty Trachtler and Trachtlerinnen from the Dreiflüsse Gauverband and the Oberer Lechgau Gauverband attended the Gaufest this year. They also traveled and participated in Heimatabende in New York, Washington, D.C., Montreal, St. Catharines, and Ottawa. Members of Maple Leaf-Almrausch, Ottawa, traveled with them at various times and arranged their trip for them. The August 15 edition of the Heimat- und Trachtenbote has a full-page article in it about the trip. The travelers had a great time everywhere they went and especially enjoyed the Gaufest.

We are happy to announce that Gauverband Nordamerika will be taking part in the Trachten- und Schűtzenzug (parade) at the 2014 Oktoberfest in Munich on September 21, 2014. This is also the same year we will be promoting the upcoming 50^th Anniversary of Gauverband Nordamerika and the 100^th Anniversary of S.V. Edelweiss Chicago. All Vereine and members of Gauverband Nordamerika are invited to participate.

Don LaCourse, a member of SG Edelweiss St. Paul, presented a great workshop at the 2013 Gaufest on hairstyles appropriate to wear with Tracht and Dirndl. Don is a hairstylist and salon owner, as well as a dedicated Trachtler. The workshop was well attended and well received.
