Gauverband Announcement

I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation to everyone who recently participated in the München Oktoberfest, representing the Gauverband Nordamerika so admirably and proudly. I know the Bavarians were truly impressed by our members in the Trachten- u. Schützenzug, and our dancers and musicians in the Tradition Zelt on the Oide Wies’n. Many thanks to Michael Olk for the efforts of turning this idea into a reality. It was a momentous occasion for all that participated and for the history of our organization.

From 2. Gauvorplattler, Rudy Leschke:   I just wanted to thank everyone for making our day at the Oide Wiesn at the 2014 Münchner Oktoberfest a success. The six groups that danced (Edelweiss St. Paul, United German Hungarians, Schlierachtaler Stamm, Edelweiss Detroit, Golden Gate San Francisco and HSV Bavaria Connecticut) were wonderful. Thank you very much, Golden Gate and Connecticut, for being patient and dancing last.

The chart of the parade line-up order has changed.  The changes are predominantly in the section with the ladies who do not wear the Janker (sleeved jacket). Additionally, one flag has dropped out (another was dropped on 9/4), another has been added.  Other than the parade chart, none of the other pages changed.  See you in München!  -Karin

I would like to announce the appointment of Erik Schwarz, of BV Alpengrün, Rochester, to the position of Director of the Gauverband Nordamerika. I have known Erik for 30 years and trust he will do an excellent job in his newly appointed position.

There was standing room only for the Oktoberfest presentation at the Delegates Meeting. Participants learned about the parade, the route, what to wear and what not to wear, and what to expect in the tents and on Monday at the Oide Wiesn. Those attending found it helpful to learn. Since then, the presentation is available on the Gauverband website.
