2018 March 23-25: Mittelwest Bezirks Heimatfest

Schuhplattler Gruppe Edelweiss, St. Paul, Minnesota, is pleased to announce the 28. Mittelwest Bezirks Heimatfest will be held March 23-25, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency-Bloomington/Mall of America. This hotel is conveniently located along the METRO Blue Line, providing transportation from the airport throughout the Twin Cities downtown areas. The room rate is $125/night (plus tax) for rentals of up to four people.  Fest Ticket: Adult $60; Children $20.  Stay tuned via email and Facebook for updates regarding hotel room reservations and administrative forms.

2018 April 6-7: West Coast Bezirksfest

Enzian Schuhplattler of Seattle, Washington, will be this year's host for the 5th West Bezirksfest, to be held the weekend of April 6-7, 2018, in Leavenworth, Washington. Leavenworth is a 2.5 hour drive from the Seattle airport or half an hour from Wenatchee, the closest airport.

The weekend will start with a Heimatabend Friday evening; Saturday continues with Einzelpreisplatteln in the morning, dance and Tracht workshops in the afternoon, and a Fest in the evening. Ticket prices until February 15 are $75; $95 after that.

Ausseer Steier Workshop Video Available Online

At the 2017 Gaufest in Buffalo, the Volksmusik Committee sponsored a great workshop: the Ausseer Steierischer. It was a 3-part workshop taught by Adam Levine and Eric Ray. Part I was Wirtshausliada.This session introduced a typical Gstanzl (song verses) sung during a traditional Landler from the Salzkammergut region of Austria. Part II was a Pascher Workshop. This linked basic Pascher (clapping) patterns and applied them with the Wirtshauslied learned earlier. Part III added a Volkstanz to the mix and then put them all together for the Ausseer Steirer.
