New Nominations Procedure for 2018 Delegates Meeting

Jan. 31, 2018 Deadline for Nominations!

During the 2016 Delegates Meeting, a vote was made to change our nominations process. A committee, appointed by the Gauvorstand, was tasked with developing a process that would allow potential candidates to announce their interest in running for a Gauausschuß position prior to the Delegates Meeting. Armed with this information before the Delegates Meeting, the Gauverband Vereine would now have an opportunity to discuss the candidates and make an informed choice.

Ausseer Steier Workshop Video Available Online

At the 2017 Gaufest in Buffalo, the Volksmusik Committee sponsored a great workshop: the Ausseer Steierischer. It was a 3-part workshop taught by Adam Levine and Eric Ray. Part I was Wirtshausliada. This session introduced a typical Gstanzl (song verses) sung during a traditional Landler from the Salzkammergut region of Austria. Part II was a Pascher Workshop. This linked basic Pascher (clapping) patterns and applied them with the Wirtshauslied learned earlier. Part III added a Volkstanz to the mix and then put them all together for the Ausseer Steirer.

New Info about Tracht from Trachtenkulturzentrum

Wolfgang Gensberger has generously shared four presentations that the Trachtenkulturzentum in Holzhausen has published. Three are about Tracht, the fourth is an informational handout about the Förderverein. Links to each are shown below. All presentations are in German and have numerous great photos that help tell the story. The presentations can also be accessed under "Resources/Tracht" and "Resources/Holzhausen" from the top menu.
