Gauverband Announcement

As a reminder, the next Delegates’ Meeting will be hosted by the Heimat Tänzer of Omaha, Nebraska and will take place from April 28 – 29, 2018. To prepare for this meeting, please:

1. send me your proposed Gaufest Bids by January 28, 2018. The Requirements when Hosting a Gaufest Handbook is on the Gauverband’s website under Publications;

2. send me your proposed By-Law changes by January 28, 2018;

The deadline for the next Gauzeitung is March 1.  Please send your articles and photos to me at Gauzeitung@yahoo.com.  Your fellow Gau-NA friends want to know what's going on in your Verein!

Here's another update to help us prepare for the upcoming Trachtenfest that's occurring in conjunction with our Bayerischer Löwe event in Haldenwang later this year.

Some of you may have discovered that there is more than one Haldenwang in Germany. Please check your hotel reservations to be sure you have a room in or near the correct town. The event is in the Haldenwang very close to Kempten. The Postleitzahl (ZIP code) for the correct Haldenwang is 87490.

This is a reminder to the members of the Gau-Vereine Flag Committee about paying their 2018-2019 dues. Please send your $100 dues check (payable to Gau Vereine Flag Committee) to Paul Stanavage at 58 Melvin Drive, Leola, Pa. 17540. Official dues notices will be sent to the member Vereine by the end of January, but due to club Officer changes, sometimes it is hard to track down the proper contact in the member Vereine. There are currently 13 member Vereine in the committee.

Has your Verein ever had an interest in hosting a Gaufest? Was the idea of being a Gaufest host something that your members kicked around over a Weißbier? Now may be a great time to think about that again. The Gauverband Meetings Committee is actively searching for a Verein (or Vereine) to serve as the host of the 2021 Gaufest. The Meetings Committee has a wealth of knowledge in preparing for a Gaufest and can assist with determining the feasibility of serving as the host, putting together the bid, and all planning for the big event.

I am happy to announce that the Schranktüren for the Gauverband Nordamerika Zimmer are installed. I received an email from Wolfgang Gensberger who is the Archivar for the Bayerischer Trachtenverband and Curator at the Trachtenkulturzentrum in Holzhausen that the doors are installed and ready for viewing. The only item left is installing the locks and hardware. Now when people stay in the room and take a tour through the Bildungshaus, they will see the doors proudly displayed to tell the story of the Trachtler in Nordamerika.
