Bob Donnelly Jr. of Edelweiss Passaic will be presenting one of the workshops at this year's Gaufest discussing a valuable resource. A 1925 book by Hans Flemming provides descriptions of 25 Schuhplattlers, Ländlers, and figure dances. In addition, it provides descriptions of basic Schuhplattler components, definitions of terms, and how to do various portions of the dance. As its copyright has expired, it is now possible to re-publish this hard to find book. This includes a transcription of the German in an easy to read typeface, a translation into English, extended instructions that ease understanding of the descriptions and enable performing the dances, and new typesetting of all music. Edelweiss Passaic has used this book throughout its history and is pleased to present it at the Gaufest.
Bob has provided us with the original German as well as a translation of this valuable 100-year old resource. THIS LINK takes you to the 135-page documentation that Bob will be discussing at his workshop on Thursday afternoon. What an amazing work of research both by the original author and Bob for his translation. Thank you, Bob, for your many years of hard work at making this available to the Gauverband!
