The link below takes you to a list of the participants that will be representing Gauverband Nordamerika at the upcoming Preisplatteln um den Bayerischen Löwen in Steinebach am Wörthsee this June. A Program of the Huosigau Gaufest being held in conjunction with the Preisplatteln, and the list of our attending Vereine is also attached for your reference.
All of our attending Vereine should already have contacted me. I shared our headcount with the Gaufest host so that we are included in the Festumzug and have space in the Festzelt. Here’s a quick program overview-
Thursday evening, June 6th, is the Huosigau-Heimatabend, starting at 6pm with a moment of silence in the town square for past members, followed by a tapping of the keg and dancing.
Friday, June 7th , coffee and cake will be served at 3pm when the Trachtenmarkt opens. That evening a celebrity entertainer is performing in the Festzelt. I think this has long been sold out. But Matt is working on arranging a practice space for Friday evening for our competitors to warm up for the Preisplatteln.
Saturday, June 8th, is the Preisplatteln um den Bayerischen Löwen, starting at 8:30 am and continuing all day. The „Café” and Trachtenmarkt will be open concurrently. They have a Bavarian band playing that evening, for which there will be a 5 Euro admission fee (the band "Sauwuid" has a Facebook page).
Sunday, June 9th, is their Gaufest. Vereine will gather at 8am. A service will be held at 10am. That will be followed by Ehrentänze and lunch in the Festzelt. The Festumzug through Steinebach will start at 2pm and we’ll return to the Festzelt around 3pm to enjoy music and more Ehrentänze.
The price for Gaufest admission, which requires a purchase of a “Festzeichen” (Fest ribbon), is 3 Euros for anyone 16 or older. We ask that each Verein check in with the Festbüro as you arrive to pick up your group’s Festzeichen. They have a list of Vereine coming and approximately how many Festzeichen are needed for each Verein.
And please remember that Sunday’s event is a Fest, and we need to be dressed appropriately – like we were for the Oktoberfest parade. For the Heimatabend on Thursday, Halbtracht is appropriate. Tanzgwand or Bayerischgwand works for the rest of the time. Remember, Trachtler san ma!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me, Matt, or Karin. We’ll all be there with you.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Steinebach.
Rudy Leschke, 1. Gauvorplattler, Gauverband Nordamerika
