From 2. Gauvorplattler, Rudy Leschke: I just wanted to thank everyone for making our day at the Oide Wiesn at the 2014 Münchner Oktoberfest a success. The six groups that danced (Edelweiss St. Paul, United German Hungarians, Schlierachtaler Stamm, Edelweiss Detroit, Golden Gate San Francisco and HSV Bavaria Connecticut) were wonderful. Thank you very much, Golden Gate and Connecticut, for being patient and dancing last. Thanks also, to all that participated in the “Gauplattler.” We had to improvise some to make things work, but it was great to be able to do that with all 100+ couples we had available. Thanks for letting me lead you out. It was an honor to be there with you.
Please also join me in thanking our musicians and Edelweiss Detroit’s Siasswasser Tanzlmusi for playing. They were great (and I thought they sounded better than the German groups). We could not have done this without them. Thanks very much, Gaumusikwart Rick Michels, Peggy Mueller, Eric Ray and the entire group.
And a special thanks to Michael Olk for setting this whole thing up. He gave us the opportunity of a lifetime.
Hope you all made it back safely, or safe travels if you are still in Bayern,
