The Gauverband Nordamerika is saddened to hear of the passing of Lloyd Wevang of BGTV D'Lustigen Holzhacker Buam, of Chicago, Illinois on December 19, 2025.
Lloyd was elected the Gauverband's Archivar at the Delegates Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on January 12, 1974. He served the Gauverband in that capacity for 32 years, and for his lengthy service, was named Gauehrenarchivar at the Executive Board Meeting in Toledo, Ohio, on March 3, 2007.
Lloyd's presence at our meetings was as large as the Gamsbart on his hat, and his laugh and jovial comments were constantly heard throughout our meetings. Although his family roots were Scandinavian, Lloyd embraced the Bavarian culture as his own, and he always shared that love of the culture with those around him. Lloyd often led a workshop about Tracht or customs at a Gaufest or Delegates Meeting and also assisted with the publishing of our own Gauchronik in 1993. On his numerous trips to Bavaria, he often represented the Gauverband Nordamerika at the Bayerischer Trachtenverband's Landestagversammlung. For many years, he was the face of Gauverband Nordamerika in Bavaria.
Our sincere condolences go out to his wife Irma, his family, and his Verein.
Ruhe in Frieden
Tom Vogt, 1.Gauvorstand
