The following is a short update on the 2012 Gauverband Nordamerika Executive Board Meeting, May 4, 2012 and the General Delegates Meeting, May 5-6, 2012.
As of March 22nd 2012 there are a total of 25 Vereine registered for attendance at the Delegates Meeting with 47 Delegates, 24 Alternate Delegates and 32 Observers for a total of 103 attendees; with less than six(6) weeks remaining to the meeting. The deadline was March 15th for all the forms to be in to allow us sufficient time to complete the planning and arrangements for the weekend which is now a challenge since attendance in the past has always been around 45-50 Vereine attending with approximately 150(+) total people. Attendance per Verein appears to be up by 33% yet 20-25 Vereine have not yet registered based upon past history. What is even more interesting is that our room block at the Kenilworth Inn has been exceeded and we had to establish an overflow hotel which already has 5 rooms booked for that weekend. Please respond immediately with the requested forms to the contacts provided so that we can get a realistic picture of the attendance and adjust our plans accordingly!

The rate for the above-mentioned accommodations is $99.00 per room per night, King or Dbl-Dbl and includes breakfast for two. These rates are subject to New Jersey State Sales Tax of 7% and an occupancy tax of 8%.
It is possible that we may have some additional rooms open up at the "main" hotel, the Kenilworth Inn in April at which time, based upon the time stamp on these reservations, we will offer you a room at the K-Inn. If for some reason that does not happen, you are still covered and we will provide shuttle service as required to/from the meeting location (5-10 minute drive max) and to/from the airport if you signed up for this in your registration forms.
Sorry for any inconvenience but attendance by the clubs appears to exceed anything in the past which has exceeded our room block. We have individuals making room reservations that are not registered yet and we also have clubs registered that do not appear to have made their room reservations yet. This was hard to know in advance since few people actually reserved a room until recently as well as sending in their forms.... and we had blocked more rooms than actually used in the past. We have a lot of Alternate Delegates and Observers signed up from the registered clubs so far.... it's looking to be almost like a mini-Gaufest.
Once again, a reminder about air travel - Please plan on using Newark Liberty International Airport (Code = EWR) as your destination. We are unable to provide shuttle transport to/from the other 2 New York area airports Kennedy & LaGuardia; be careful when booking as it has already happened that flights were booked to an alternate airport by mistake and it’s very costly to try to change after the fact.
