Trachtler Wallfahrt nach Altötting

About 15,000 Trachtlerinnen and Trachtler from all the Bavarian Gauverbände came to Altötting on Sunday, September 28, 2008 for a religious procession to the Kapellplatz. The route was organized so the processions approached the Kapellplatz in a star formation, coming down the paths towards the center. Monsignore Günter Mandl celebrated the Mass. The Wallfahrt is the central event in a whole year of celebrating 125. Jahre Trachtenvereine in Bayern. Among the many guests were Ehrengäste from the Deutschen Trachtenverband, Bundes Österreichischer Heimat- und Volkstrachtenvereine, Gauverband Nordamerika (Ehrengauvorstand, Walter Wieand), Bayernbundes, Bayerischen Einigung, and also the Haus Wittelsbach, represented by Seiner Königlichen Hoheit Prinz Christoph von Bayern.
