The Delegates Meeting was a great success, with 50 Vereine represented by 183 delegates, alternates, and observers. Bayern Verein Newark was an excellent host. Many thanks to their members who worked so hard to make everything run like clockwork, serve us outstanding meals, and show us Trachtenkameradschaft at its best.
Highlights of the meeting:
The 2014 Delegates Meeting will be hosted by Enzian Volkstanzgruppe of Newark, Delaware.
The 2015 Gaufest bid was won by SVEV D’Oberlandler of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Congratulations to both of our future hosts!
All the Gauverband officers were re-elected to another two-year term.
A committee has been formed to start work on the Gauverband’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2016. The Delegates Meeting that year (the host will be determined in 2014) will be extended by one day in order to fit a church service and Saturday night banquet in. The weekend will be open to all Trachtler, not just to those attending the meeting. The Gauverband Chronik will be updated, a video history will be produced, a logo contest is going to be announced soon, and a commemorative pin and/or coin will be made.
Another committee has been formed to start work on a commemorative pin for another upcoming milestone: the 100th anniversary of the first known Trachtenverein in North America. SV Edelweiss Chicago will celebrate that landmark with a weekend event, the date still to be announced.
Three dances were taught, and these directions and sheet music will be posted on the website by the end of the month (it’ll be announced on this page).
Many thanks to our host Verein, Bayern Verein Newark, for their Trachtenkameradschaft. And to their great neighbors, Edelweiss Passaic, who also worked to make the nearly 200 friends from all corners of North America welcome.
