2012 Delegates Meeting Schedules and Agendas

Bayern Verein Newark and Edelweiss Passaic, both of New Jersey, are submitting a joint bid to host the 2015 Gaufest. Their proposal is to hold the Gaufest during a one-week cruise from New Jersey to Bermuda.  This will be voted on at the Delegates Meeting next month.  To read more about the proposal, go to www.25thgaufest.com.

D'Oberlandler Milwaukee will also be presenting a bid to host the 2015 Gaufest.  More details will be presented at the Delegates Meeting.

The agendas, schedule, and supporting materials for the Delegates Meeting on May 5 and 6, 2012, in Kenilworth, New Jersey are available at the link below.  For those attending the meeting -- please print out a copy of the information and bring it with you to the meeting.

I have not received any bids to host the 2014 Delegates Meeting.  It is not too late to submit a bid. A form for the bid is on the Gauverband’s website under Publications/ Handbooks/ Delegates Meeting.   (more…)

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we learned that Ingrid Menzinger died on March 21 at her home in Obermenzing in München.  Ingrid, her husband Hans, and children Vroni and Hansi are members of D’Würmtaler Menzing and own Trachten Pöllmann.  They have been to numerous Gaufeste here in North America and are always working at Trachten Pöllmann.  The family has lost a loving wife and mother who was devoted to them.  The club has lost an irreplaceable member.  The Trachten community has lost a tireless advocate who loved her heritage and lived it every day.  Many have lost a friend that they will never forget because Ingrid was such a kind and giving person.  Ingrid and Hans (and, in the last few years, daughter Vroni) have long been great friends to Gauverband Nordamerika, giving generously of their expertise in all things cultural.  (...more)

The following is a short update on the 2012 Gauverband Nordamerika Executive Board Meeting, May 4, 2012 and the General Delegates Meeting, May 5-6, 2012.

As of March 22^nd 2012 there are a total of 25 Vereine registered for attendance at the Delegates Meeting with 47 Delegates, 24 Alternate Delegates and 32 Observers for a total of 103 attendees; with less than six(6) weeks remaining to the meeting. The deadline was March 15^th for all the forms to be in to allow us sufficient time to complete the planning and arrangements for the weekend which is now a challenge since attendance in the past has always been around 45-50 Vereine attending with approximately 150(+) total people. Attendance per Verein appears to be up by 33% yet 20-25 Vereine have not yet registered based upon past history. What is even more interesting is that our room block at the Kenilworth Inn has been exceeded and we had to establish an overflow hotel which already has 5 rooms booked for that weekend. Please respond immediately with the requested forms to the contacts provided so that we can get a realistic picture of the attendance and adjust our plans accordingly!

The music for each of the Preisplattler is played for Einzel- or Gruppenpreisplattlen sequences. The music is played by Gaumusikwart Richard Michels. A CD with all the music on it can be purchased from the Gau-Library.  Note that in order to listen to the music, you must download it.
